  • If you’re looking for some special local produce or a unique souvenir, Queenstown has many options in a small space. Just wander through the CBD to find everything from exclusive boutique clothing, through fine arts and sculpture, to local produce and crafts.
  • Just out of town you’ll find wineries, a cheesery and many local artist studios.
  • Queenstown has an active night life and music scene with many live bands playing every week. Ask at our service desk for the latest copy of the Mountain Scene which lists a gig guide of what’s on.
  • If you’re feeling flush, Sky City and the Steamer Wharf casinos are open every day until late.
  • The Reading Cinema in Queenstown shows all the blockbuster hits while Dorothy Brown’s cinema in Arrowtown also shows the latest arthouse movies.

Beyond Queenstown

  • Queenstown is a great base for touring around the Central Otago and Souther Lakes districts as well as the Fiordland and Mount Aspiring National Parks - World Heritage Areas. If you've got your own transport ask us for advice on routes and journey times - it always takes longer than you expect and some roads are not advisable in winter. If you are hoping to join a tour our staff can help you find and book the one that you want.
  • Arrowtown is an old gold rush town with plenty of history and character. The museum is well worth a visit.
  • Te Anau is the gateway to Fiordland National Park's pristine rainforest and the un-missable trips to Milford and Doubtful Sounds. Don’t be put off by poor weather as these trips are incredible in any circumstances and in the rain you see the rainforest at its best with water pouring in sheets off sheer cliffs. You’ll often also see some of the region’s unique dolphins and seals.
  • Wanaka is home to the region’s most popular event - the Warbirds over Wanaka air show - and is also the location of one of the favourite family attractions, Puzzling World. It’s a very scenic day trip from Queenstown.
